Since 2016, Uji Time Dessert has offered Far East flavors and Japanese Fusion Dessert treats at multiple ice cream shops throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco, San Mateo, Newark, Pleasanton, and Berkeley.
Challenge:
The COVID-19 Pandemic impacted the Uji Time Dessert business so deeply that they nearly felt helpless. They are glad to have connected with East Bay SBDC Business Advisor, David Bokash, right after the shelter-in-place order was issued. David and his SBDC colleagues shared many financial support options, marketing strategies, and operational suggestions.
Action Taken:
Since the onset of the pandemic, Uji Time Dessert has successfully applied for both a First-draw and a Second-draw Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan, an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), and several other small businesses loans/grants.
Results:
Uji Time Dessert raised $85K from SMBX, based on a referral by the SBDC.
