About the panel:

Dorian Webb -CEO - Dorian Webb Lifestyle [Moderator]

A semester spent in Italy proved to be a career defining experience for designer and consultant Dorian Webb.  In 1991, after graduating from Yale University, Dorian Webb founded a jewelry business that featured Murano glass. The success of the jewelry collection led Dorian to design chandeliers, glassware, ornaments and housewares, all incorporating combinations of Venetian glass, semiprecious stones and metal. Since the company’s inception Dorian has garnered many awards, widespread recognition for her work and maintained a loyal celebrity following.  Highlights include segments on the Oprah Winfrey show and the Today show. From 2008 - 2010 a selection of Dorian’s lighting was part of a traveling art museum exhibition. Currently, Dorian maintains a licensing agreement with Crystorama Lighting, for whom she designs under her name. Ms. Webb has lectured on the highlights and pitfalls of entrepreneurship at New York University, Clark Atlanta University, Syracuse University and at the Metropolitan Design Institute.  Since moving to the Bay Area, Ms. Webb has helped over 100 low income, high potential women to open their own self-sustaining businesses. She now consults with the Alameda County Small Business Development Center to assist entrepreneurs in business development, strategic planning, product design, sales and marketing and branding.


Monica Edwards - Director of Sales - Digirad

Ms. Edwards has 27 years of experience in private equity and finance. She is the founder of structured finance consultancy, The Monarch Group. In addition to raising capital, her firm structured tax-enhanced transactions on behalf of private firms, and was responsible for the management and deployment of capital on behalf of institutional clients. Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, The Monarch Group served a national footprint, and raised over $230 million in funding for small businesses and real estate development projects totaling over $1 billion in total project cost. Ms. Edwards has a passion for community development, and has made a personal and professional commitment to helping under-served markets access capital. She formed her own community development entity, which was awarded $20 million in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs) to co-invest with churches in South Los Angeles.  Currently Ms. Edwards is one of three founders of Elevate Impact Partners, LLC, where she focuses on capital raising, investor relations, and origination.  She serves on Elevate Impact’s investment committee and is one of the firm’s team leads for allocating capital for the city of Oakland’s revolving loan fund for the equity program, which is focused creating sustainable businesses for entrepreneurs adversely impacted by the war on drugs. 


Judi Henderson - Owner - Mannequin Maddness

Judi Henderson is the owner of Mannequin Madness, a green business that is the largest mannequin recycling company in the country. The company recycles mannequins for retail chains when the close or remodel to keep them from throwing their mannequin in the landfills. Mannequin Madness sells mannequins to businesses and private individuals all over the US and Canada; customers include Nike, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and American Apparel.  Judi launched her business in 2001, and began it as a full time enterprise in 2004. The business’s start was almost by happenstance.  Judi, while searching for concert tickets, came across an ad for a mannequin to sell, and discovered that the company offering the mannequin was going out of business and selling its entire inventory. She bought all of them, and started her company. Mannequin Madness currently employees 5 people and has a mannequin warehouse in Jingletown (Oakland, CA) which it rents out for photo shoots, special events and art parties.


Cindy Hill - Founder - Grace Marketing Agency

Cindy Hill is an accomplished sales and brand marketing expert with over 22 years of progressive experience in the hospitality and entertainment industry. As one of the first hires to launch W Hotels Worldwide, she is credited with leading the opening marketing efforts for more than twenty W hotels in North America, Europe and Asia. Cindy was the Director of Brand Management for North America Openings for Starwood’s Luxury and Design brands including W, St. Regis, Le Meridien and The Luxury Collection. With her innovative approach to branding, she concepted a woman's speakers series, “What She Said” and a music series “W Live,” both of which became  global initiatives for W Hotels. Cindy was recognized by the California Hotel and Lodging Association as Woman Leader of the year 2016-17 in and the recipient of the Powerful Women of the Bay award in 2016. She is a founding member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, East Bay Area Chapter and leads a formal mentorship program, personally mentoring more than 10 millennials around the country. As founder of Grace Marketing Agency, Cindy’s mission is to work with business’ to develop compelling narratives about their brands, create dynamic marketing strategies and plans that deliver results, and ultimately contribute to their financial success.
