Besha, Inc. (Besha) started in 2016 by Rebecca Sanchez, sells an all natural collagen supplement developed in Germany through online distribution. Customers use the products to benefit their skin, hair, nails and joints. Collagen supplements are a very fast growing segment of the health and beauty supplements market.    


In 2015, Rebeca Sanchez wanted to start an online business selling natural collagen supplements.  She also needed advice on how to launch a business with minimal capital investment. She met with a business advisor for a non-profit agency, but left the meeting feeling disillusioned, and that the advisor did not believe in her business idea.   


Rebecca then contacted the Alameda County SBDC and was connected with Ron Barrett, a business advisor who has started several companies and has significant finance and marketing experience.    After Rebecca’s first conversation with Ron, she realized he was a valuable mentor to help her start and grow her business.  He initially advised her to continue to work on her business plan and perform additional research for some of the business issues.  She followed through, and Ron helped Rebecca through the steps to launch the business, Besha, Inc.  


In 2016, Rebecca met her sales projections through her own sales efforts.  Her next step in the strategy developed with Ron was to expand using a manufacturer’s rep program to grow sales.  Ron introduced Rebecca to several manufacturer’s reps with good industry knowledge of her type of product.  The relationship established with just one manufacturer’s rep and acceleration of online sales has already expanded sales six fold, and additional relationships are in process to accelerate growth even more rapidly. The company has hired three employees to keep up with demand.
